Gabriel Santos de Oliveira is a PhD student in Anthropology at the University of Virginia (UVA) and holds a BA in History from the University of São Paulo (USP). His research focuses on Amazonian Archaeology, specifically examining the long-term relationships between Indigenous peoples and the sacred forest landscapes in the department of Pando, Bolivia. His work investigates geometric earthwork sites to better understand the deep history and cultural landscape of Southwestern Amazonia. As a first-generation student of Indigenous and Afro-descendant heritage from Brazil, he is committed to academic practices that center Indigenous perspectives and historical continuity.
