Bárbara is a Postdoctoral researcher in conservation ecology at the State University of Santa Cruz (UESC) in partnership with the Bahia State Research Support Foundation (FABESB). She holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the Development and Environment Program at UESC (Brazil). She is a member of the Indigenous and Ecologist Researchers Network of the Serrapilheira Institute and a visiting researcher at the Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS) at the University of Colorado Boulder (USA), working with the Environment and Society Program and the Center for the Governance of Natural Resources.
She is also a member of the Wayrakuna Research Group (UFOP/CNPq) — hosted at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) and supported by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) — and the CWIAS Group (IBS–CU/Boulder), an Indigenous research network based within the Institute of Behavioral Science at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder.
