The University Services and Network of Knowledges in Oaxaca (SURCO) is a non-profit organization that seeks to connect diverse community, collective and academic processes in the fields of education, communication and climate change with the objective of building networks of action and Knowledge of realities intersects between Oaxaca and the rest of the world. Some current projects are digital, focused on digital rights and access to information in indigenous languages, and reports, which plan to understand and disseminate the impacts of climate change in agriculture and food among Zapotec communities in the Sierra Norte and Isthmus of Tehuantepec in the state of Oaxaca. SURCO is directed by Oliver Fröhling, who is originally from Germany and has worked in Oaxaca since 1996, in several civil society organizations. He has a masters from the University of Nebraska and doctorate studies (incomplete) from the University of Kentucky in geography with an emphasis on political ecology, social movements and digital media. He has affiliations with several universities in the US. He leads the PEZ radio program at SURCO.
