Pérola Juliana, originally from Aracaju, Sergipe (Brazil), is an undergraduate student in Dance Education at UFS (Federal University of Sergipe) and Law at UNIPIO (Pedagogical University Institute of Ouro Preto). She is the founder of PLYA, the classical ballet group at UFS (2023), and holds certification in classical ballet through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). She has completed courses in History of Dance in Brazil, Dance Analysis and Criticism, and Brazilian Dance with Experiences in International Topologies at the São Paulo School of Dance. She is a principal dancer with the UFS Youth Dance Company (CJD-UFS) and with the company Sutaques de Casa.
As a researcher, she participated in ANDA (Brazil’s National Association of Dance Researchers), presenting the paper Personalities of Modern Dance in Brazil: Marcelo Moacyr in 2024, and the paper Toré of the Xokó People: Expression of Identity, Resistance, Dance, and Ancestral Heritage in 2025. She is also the author of the study Narratives of the Body on Stage: The Relationship Between Music and Dance in Sutaques de Casa’s Performance of “Geni and the Zeppelin,” presented at ConQueer 2024 (International Conference on Queer Studies).
