Luna, Jaime Martínez

A Zapoteco anthropologist, researcher, comunicator and musitian born in Guelatao de Juárez, Oaxaca, Mexico. In the 1970s, deeply involved in the movements of defense of autonomy of the Indigenous territories, he founded the historic Organización para la Defensa de los Recursos Naturales de la Sierra Juárez, (ODRENASIJ [Organization for the Defense of the Natural Resources of Sierra Juárez]. In the 1980s, he also founded XEGLO “La Voz de la Sierra” [The Voice of la Sierra], the radio station of the National Comission for the Development of the Indigenous Peoples, and more recently he has also founded a second community radio, Estéreo Comunal
[Communal Stereo]. He has published numerous books, including Comunalidad y Desarollo (2004), Eso que Llaman Comunalidad (2010); Textos sobre el Camino Andado (2013); Comunalizar la Vida Toda (2015); Educación Comunal (2015); Guelatao: Ensayos de Historia (2006); among others.
