Veras, Hemanuel

Journalist and researcher dedicated to studying connectivity infrastructures in the Amazon and their relationships with the communication of communities in the region. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Communication and Culture at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Eco-Pós/UFRJ). He is the coordinator of the Center for Popular Communication and Audiovisual (CPA) and a member of the Internet Governance Research Network (REDE), working on topics such as digital inclusion, human rights, and community communication.

The Abya Yala Pluriversity was launched in the first week of April 2024, with the Abya Yala Pluriversity Week in the Department of Science, Technology, and Society at Virginia Tech, in the lands of Tutelo and Monacan people, with a series of events around the visit of Yunuen Torres Ascencio, from where we call today Cherán, México.
