Ytxaha belongs to the Pankararu and Pataxó peoples and is a member of the Cinta Vermelha Jundiba village, located in Araçuaí, in the Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil, where she lives with her family group. She holds a Master’s degree in Sustainability with Traditional Peoples and Territories from the University of Brasília and a degree in Environmental Management from the Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais.
She inhabits territories that span river and sea, places where she experiences and carries the knowledge and memories of her peoples. She is an environmental and cultural educator, poet, artisan, and a learner of seeds. She is a dance researcher, inspired by peripheral rhythms and influenced by styles such as Bahian Pagode. Through her anDanças (dance-walkings), she connects with knowledge of movement for women’s health, as well as Afro-Indigenous ancestral knowledge and technologies.
She develops a project entitled “Mulheridades: Dancing Bodies Territories,” which invites racialized women to move, reconnect with their bodies, and remember coexistence with Mother Earth.
